The Alliance Française uses the method put forth by the Alliance Française de Paris, a contemporary program emphasizing both natural and basic language structures.
It provides:
LEVEL I - BASIC 101 THRU 105
For students with little or no previous French knowledge. This course will develop basic skills in understanding, communicating, responding to, and asking questions in French. Authentic, realistic dialogues invite the students to participate in French using situations from everyday life. French grammar is explained practically and is used both orally and in writing.
This course is completed in approximately 120 to 150 hours.
LEVEL II. - INTERMEDIATE 201 THRU 205
Prerequisite: successful completion of the Level I book or its equivalent.
This course is for more advanced students who want to further their knowledge of written and spoken
French. It is a continuation of the previous course leading to more complex and idiomatic uses of modern French. A wide variety of authentic documents (poems, songs, etc.) are used to develop a better understanding of French culture and to promote oral expression and communication.
This course is completed in approximately 120 to 150 hours.
LEVEL III. - ADVANCED 301 THRU 308
Prerequisite: successful completion of the Level II book or the equivalent.
This course is designed for those who have studied French for several years and have acquired a good level of proficiency, but wish to achieve mastery. It is of particular interest to teachers of French. This course aims to attain a more complete mastery of French syntax and textual analysis. Some themes covered are: "Les Français vus de l'etranger", "La presse et les medias", "Les Français et la table", "Villes et villages", "Les Français et l'argent", "Les Français et leur temps libre", "Les Français et l'amour", and "Arts et spectacles".
LEVEL IV. - MASTERY 401 THRU 408
Prerequisite: successful completion of Level III book or the equivalent.
This course is intended for students who have more than 500 hours of French study, who have excellent proficiency, and would like to delve deeper into the French language. It focuses on the acquisition of lexical, grammatical and stylistic competencies, as well as textual analyses, commentaries, and the discussion of ideas. A wide range of subjects are examined, such as history, art, politics, and literature encompassing contemporary French society and culture.
DELF & DALF - INCREASE THE VALUE OF YOUR INVESTMENT IN THE FRENCH LANGUAGE
Along with regular classes, our school offers the opportunity to prepare for the DELF (Diplôme d’études en langue française) and the DALF (Diplôme approfondi de langue française).
These certificates, received upon successful completion of a test in French proficiency, are officially recognized by the French government and the European Union. To work and/or live in France, or in a French-speaking country, the DELF and DALF are a must.
